Mallorca to Menorca - A midnight window
/40° 0.037’N 3° 49.940'E Citadelle, Menorca
The wind forecast for us to cross between the islands wasn't great, but there was a window of opportunity between midnight and 6a.m overnight so we went for it.
We set our alarms for midnight, checked the forecast, got ready and set off at ten to one. There wasn’t a breathe of wind as we cast off. Uneventful is exactly what you’d like from a night passage and uneventful it was. The stars were bright and Captain let me nap for most of it. I kept saying “when you get sleepy just give me knudge’ but he never did, bless his little sailor socks.
We slowed down as we approached Citadelle as we had such a good crossing we had beaten the sunrise. Took down the sails and slowly motored towards the leading lights of the marina. The sun came up as just as we found a mooring.
Seeing dawn fills your gratitude boots!
Hello Menorca!
